Sandon Global Headquarters EV Chargers for staff, visitors & fleet.
Site
The building is a prestigious and innovative new corporate HQ and production facility of Sandon Global; they required several charge-points to support the Sandon Global sustainability credentials.
The charging system would need to work with a wide range of vehicle types and within the available power constraints of the 3 phase supply.
Project Process
During meetings with the clients, we considered all options to use the power supply available.
We demonstrated how we could manage the power load through a ‘back-office’ system to maximise charging for any vehicle using the system.
With dynamic load balancing, the units utilise all available electrical capacity from the building. The available power is distributed automatically and dynamically between the charge units. All connected cars can be charged at the same time. The system can utilise from 7kW up to 22kW.
Contract arrangements
We were awarded the contract because of our skillset and understanding of the client’s specific needs and budget.
Civil Works
We designed the civil layout with the future in mind, allowing for extra charge points at a later date. We used Specialist EV Blocks, enabling us to have civil provision installed safely and neatly in the ground, ready to position additional charge points as and when required. Placing the Specialist EV Blocks during this initial stage saves future disruption and scarring of a perfectly finished project. It also saves on cost and time on any future expansion.
Easee Chargers
We chose Easee chargers for a number of reasons but mainly for their ability to self-manage the variations of charging loads across phases.
Easee chargers also have the option to add payment services at a future date, if required, and are fitted with specific security benefits; they are not wired to the building’s IT systems but utilise the free communication SIMS direct to a cloud-based back office.
The back-office suite grants access for any approved individual using a free APP to use the chargers.
We future-proofed the system for growth by wiring the base-plates for four further vehicles. To commission them at a future date only requires the chargers and posts to be installed and connected.
The Results
A set of charging bays that utilise smart technology to ensure the continual best use of available power.
The charging facilities are stylish and integrate well into this innovative modern building. We always make sure that our quotes do not include systems with expensive features our customers will never use; however, we make sure the system installed can be upgraded in the future – should a client’s needs change.
What did the client think of the installation?
“EV charging panels are an essential element of our new building. They
are available for all staff and customers to charge their cars while at
our facility and represent Sandon Global’s desire to be a green
business. We felt in safe hands with the type of EV charging panels selected and
how they were integrated into our electrical distribution, designed for
our current needs and any future expansion.
The installation went very smoothly, and we are delighted with the
results.”
