Air Source Heat Pumps
MEEL GROUP - SUSTAINABILITY SOLUTIONS: AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS
We are invested in zero emissions heating
At Sustainability Solutions, we have a forward-thinking team of renewable heating professionals installing systems for domestic and business use.
Taking heat from the outside air can reduce the heating bills for your building or home. Heat pumps may be fitted to the exterior wall or on ground level. Even when the outside temperature is cold, the unit extracts heat from the external air and uses it to heat your building.
Up to 400% efficient!
Air Heat Pumps are very efficient. They produce 3-4 units of heat for every 1 unit of energy used to run the system. They can work all year round even in very cold weather. The brands of pump we install are very reliable and need little maintenance.
We are approved installers
We are accredited by MCS - the standards organisation for low-carbon products and installations within the UK. Membership of the MCS shows our adherence to industry standards, highlighting our quality, experience and skill.
Carbon footprint
An Air Source Heat Pump is a low-carbon way to heat your home. It's a sustainable replacement for fossil fuel heating such as gas, oil or LPG, and can help reduce your household or commercial building's carbon footprint.
But how do they work?
Heat Pumps are a perfect example of green, renewable energy; they require very little maintenance and ultimately do not depend on the burning of fossil fuels. A little electricity is needed to power the Heat Pump fan. However, Solar Panels can supply this energy should you wish to add one to the system.
Heating your building
Due to the technology inside your heat pump, it is possible to make use of outside air, even on a cold day.
This green and renewable source of energy can be used to warm your home and heat your hot water as well.
For all Heat Pumps, whether air source or ground source, to work well, it is important that your home is well-insulated. Heat Pumps work on the basis of keeping the ambient temperature in your home stable.
Commercial Buildings
With the sharply rising cost of gas and electricity, many businesses are looking for cost-effective solutions to heat their offices and workspaces.
Large Heat Pumps are being increasingly used to provide heat to schools, sports halls, offices and shops.
An Air Source Heat Pump can be the ideal solution for your business, offering lower energy bills and a lower carbon footprint. A well-designed commercial Heat Pump can certainly provide all the heating requirements of a well-insulated commercial property, and once the initial investment has been recovered, great savings can be made.
Why install a Commercial Air Source Heat Pump?
An Air Source Heat Pump delivers about 4kWh of energy for every 1kWh of electricity used to power it. This means they are 300 – 400% more efficient than traditional electric heating.
Air Source Heat Pumps can improve the quality of air in the workplace and can act as an air conditioner in the hotter months.
Renewable energy heating will reduce your carbon footprint. Around 40% of carbon emissions come from traditional commercial heating.
We are experts in commercial Heat Pumps. To discuss your needs, please get in touch.
Air Source Heat Pumps are:
- Good for the environment – producing zero carbon emissions and helping to reduce your carbon footprint.
- An excellent alternative to traditional fossil fuels. A minimum amount of electricity is required to run the Heat Pump, but the energy you create offsets this cost.
- An excellent alternative if your home relies on oil, LPG or electrical heating. A Heat Pump will significantly reduce your energy bills.
- Suitable for domestic homes, commercial and public buildings.
Allow Meel Group’s Sustainability Solutions division to guide you through this efficient and eco-friendly way of heating your home. They do not require the burning of fossil fuels in order to work and deliver more heat energy than the electricity they consume.
Ask our experts
Temperature variations do affect the running costs of your heat pump. A seasonal performance factor (SPF) is the term used to show the efficiency of a heat pump across the whole year. When our engineer visits your home, he will calculate the SPF of the proposed system design based on the design for your home, taking into account the weather and location of your property.
Your heat pump runs on electricity, so a rise in your electricity bill can be expected. However, it is important to remember that your gas bill will be lower. When considering running costs, it is always worth bearing in mind that, once installed, a heat pump requires very little maintenance, unlike a traditional gas boiler. The amount of heat that an air or ground heat pump produces is more than the amount of electricity they use.
Your heat pump is designed to keep your home at a regulated, desired temperature and thus will be working all the time, directed by a thermostat.
Planning permission is not needed to install a heat pump on your building. However, certain conditions do apply. Please read the this link before purchasing and installing your heat pump.
